Manusa doors at the Madrid location of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra

Sanitary

Like its headquarters in Pamplona, the “Clínica Universidad de Navarra” combines its healthcare work with intensive teaching and research activities, promoting clinical trials and projects focused on diseases that are difficult to diagnose and treat. The complex has a total of 48,000 square metres distributed across two buildings: the hospital itself and a centre dedicated to education and training.

Working with the Otxotorena Arquitectos studio, Manusa participated in the project by installing various solutions in different areas of the hospital.

Hermetic sliding doors with vision panels and handles, made of HPL, a resistant and easy-to-clean material, were installed in the operating theatres. These doors were also customised in white and blue to match the design of the environment.

For the main entrance and the emergency room entrance, special stainless steel frames were designed with a wider than usual perimeter, giving them an elegant and distinctive look. This is an example of the degree of customisation offered by Manusa's automatic doors, which can be adapted to the specific needs of each project.

Likewise, to partition different spaces, automatic doors with transparent frames were installed, both bi-part and telescopic opening, which help to maintain visual continuity and brightness in the interior corridors.

Given the size of the complex—48,000 m²—the organisation of traffic flows is essential. Patients, visitors, and healthcare and administrative staff share spaces that must be functional and welcoming. Manusa automatic doors facilitate a clear, fluid and accessible circulation pattern.

The transparency of the doors reinforces the project's commitment to natural light, bringing warmth and humanisation to hospital spaces, traditionally perceived as cold and impersonal. At the same time, the design of the circulation areas preserves the privacy and well-being of patients, avoiding unnecessary visual contact between staff, family members and visitors.
