Automatic dock locking doors for safe and efficient public transport

Public transport moves thousands of people every day. At certain times of the day, stops and stations become points of high concentration and intense passenger traffic, making it essential to ensure a smooth and orderly flow between the platform and the vehicle to maintain service efficiency. At the same time, passenger safety is a top priority to prevent incidents and service disruptions. That is why Manusa offers automatic platform screen doors (PSD), a solution that provides protection and efficiency to improve urban mobility.
Manusa PSD doors have a modular design that enables them to be adapted to the specific characteristics of each station. Their opening and closing are synchronised with that of the vehicles to facilitate passenger flow, and when closed, they act as barriers that prevent access to the circulation area. Their glass surfaces facilitate visibility and allow natural light to pass through, which means energy savings on platforms exposed to the outside. In addition, they can be customised to integrate them into the station design, and accessories such as information screens, passage lighting or passenger counting systems, among others, can be added.
International presence of PSD automatic doors
The performance of our PSD automatic doors has led more and more cities around the world to trust Manusa to modernise their transport networks. In the Middle East, one of the most emblematic projects is located on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The monorail that crosses the island has several stations, including The Pointe, equipped with a dozen Manusa automatic PSD doors. Another case in Asia is the BRT corridor between Rawalpindi and Islamabad (Pakistan). This is a large-scale project, with 430 PSD doors distributed across 31 stations in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network, allowing more than half a million people to board in an orderly manner.
A similar project has been developed in Mérida (Venezuela), which has 168 Manusa PSD doors in the city's BRT system stations. In this case, technical adaptation is key, as some platforms have steep slopes that have been resolved thanks to the modular design of the doors.
In Europe, one of our most notable projects is located in Thessaloniki (Greece). For the expansion of the urban metro network, we designed and manufactured 80 automatic doors distributed across five stations. In addition, the network's platforms also feature 320 Manusa emergency swing doors located alternately between the automatic doors to ensure passenger safety.
Several Spanish cities also feature Manusa PSD door projects. One of these is Barcelona, where this solution can be found in stations on metro line 11 and on the access platforms of the Cuca de Llum – the charismatic funicular railway that connects the historic Tibidabo amusement park with the city.
With all these projects, Manusa reinforces its commitment to safety and efficiency in urban mobility, making stations around the world more comfortable, accessible and reliable spaces for passengers.
