Accessibility and sustainability for the Colisée residential and day care centre

Residential

The Colisée Badalona residential and day centre is a space designed to promote the well-being, support and independence of elderly people. In this type of project, access is key to ensuring comfort for people with reduced mobility. This is a factor that Manusa took into account when installing the entrance door with a locking system and the automatic side door in the common areas. Both solutions combine safety, energy efficiency and universal accessibility, three essential pillars that also help meet the requirements for BREEAM certification, which the building has successfully obtained.

At the main entrance to the residential area, Manusa has installed two central opening doors with fixed panels and framed profiles, in a lock-type configuration. This solution ensures optimal control of air exchange between the exterior and interior, improving the building's energy efficiency. By acting as a lock with two successive doors, the entrances reduce air infiltration and sudden temperature fluctuations, which is especially important for maintaining user comfort.

In the common area, the project features an automatic telescopic side-opening sliding door, specifically designed to optimise space and ensure smooth movement for both residents and professionals. In terms of design and customisation, this door has been covered with vinyl to preserve the privacy and intimacy of residents.

Both models of automatic doors allow effortless passage for people with reduced mobility, wheelchair users or those using walking frames. Thanks to automatic opening, precise detection and controlled speed, Manusa provides a safe and comfortable environment adapted to the needs of those who require inclusive and reliable solutions.

A BREEAM-certified building

Manusa's sustainable solutions, along with other architectural solutions, have helped the building achieve BREEAM certification. BREEAM is one of the most internationally recognised sustainability assessment systems for buildings and analyses the environmental impact of the building throughout its life cycle: from design and construction to use and maintenance. In this context, automatic doors play a crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency, minimising heat loss and facilitating safe and controlled passage flows.

Thus, with this project at the Colisée residential and day care centre in Badalona, Manusa reaffirms its commitment to creating more efficient and accessible spaces designed with people in mind.
