The Pointe Station on Palm Jumeirah (Dubai)

Transport

Automatic platform screen doors (PSD) have become a great solution for train stations, bus stations, metro stations and all types of public transport. Major cities on five continents already include PSD in their transport interchanges and at the various stops along the entire route.

One of Manusa's emblematic projects is located on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The island's main avenue, which resembles the trunk of a palm tree, can be travelled along by monorail. Its construction began in 2009 and consists of four stations located at strategic points.

There, Manusa with the support of the large construction company Nakheel, was in charge of the design and manufacture of a new station, The Pointe, that has 12 automatic platform screen doors, a dozen emergency doors, as well as a control system for the management of the station. These doors could be customised as they can be manufactured in different heights and widths. In addition, their structure is highly durable, adaptable and reliable.

The presence of this PSD system guarantees the safety and fluid transit of users as it regulates access to the monorail carriages. It also enables orderly and safe boarding and alighting thanks to its functional and robust conception. With the platform closure doors, the separation between the platform and the stopping area of the vehicle is guaranteed, preventing passengers from intruding into unauthorised areas or falling onto the tracks.
